For twelve months – from the end of April 1974 to early May 1975 – we travelled in South America. Our journey took us from Panama in the north to Tierra del Fuego in the south and back to Panama again. We travelled through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Being lovers of mountain scenery and wilderness, we spent much of this time in the Andes which offered tremendous scope for hiking in some of the last true wilderness areas of the world. Much of what is written here are accounts of the hikes we made during that year. The book is 170 pages, 24 x 20 cm, and includes 140 photos (large and small) with maps showing hiking routes undertaken.
